Summary:
Under the direction of a radiologist, the sonographer performs procedures, prepares equipment and supplies for performing ultrasound procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Be a graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound or related health field.

2. Registry eligible or current registry validation by a minimum of one accrediting agency required.

3. Maintain valid registry renewal by participating in CEU, certification courses and required in-services.

4. Certifications in other modalities beneficial (CT, MRI, ultrasound, echocardiography, mammography, nuclear medicine).

5. Able to work with a range of individuals and personalities.

6. Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development relative to age groups.

Language Skills

1. Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

2. Able to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

1. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

2. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

1. Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

2. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
