Previous Experience


Assesses respiratory patients with acute and chronic illnesses to ensure delivery of clinically appropriate respiratory care procedures, as prescribed by fellow staff therapists/technicians and medical staff for pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. Instructs, orients, and makes recommendations to medical and nursing personnel regarding respiratory care procedures. Assists in the orientation of new staff.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be a high school graduate.
  • Two years of previous respiratory/cardiopulmonary education required.
  • CRTT eligible with continuing education for Registry eligible.
  • CRTT eligible is required to work independently have strong organizational and teamwork
  • skills.
  • Must maintain a "B" or better GPA for Registry eligible education.
  • Must have effective communication skills and emotional maturity.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of environmental safety and infection control.
  • Language Skills

  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole number, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability

  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must have high energy level with ability to work under stress and exhibit emotional maturity, stability, and flexibility.
  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities. Potential exposure to Latex products, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
  • Some heavy lifting required.
  • Must maintain high level of confidentiality at all times.

  • Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
